Manchester Jobs - Modern Manchester

Manchester City CentreManchester is a city and metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester, located in North West England, with its City status being granted in 1853. In 2007, the population of the Manchester local government district was estimated to be 458,100. This makes Manchester the 15th largest urban area in the European Union.

As part of the English core city groups Manchester today is a centre of education, the arts, media and commerce. In a poll in 2006 of British business leaders Manchester was regarded as the best place to locate a business in the UK.

A report published in 2007 and commissioned by Manchester Partnership showed Manchester to be the "fastest growing city" economically in the UK. Because of its growing significance internationally in finance, commerce, media, entertainment, arts and sport, Manchester moved up to the Gamma list in global city status (2008 roster).

Foreign visitors are attracted to the City and it is the third most visited city in the UK. Manchester was the host of the2002 commonwealth games, and in addition to its' other sporting connections are its two Premier league football teams, Manchester United and Manchester City.Famous Manchester Buildings

Shopping In Manchester

If you love shopping then you will love Manchester with its' fabulous fashion and food markets to the WAG's paradise The Trafford Centre. Manchester is the shopping capital of the North.

Everyone can be sure to find something they like, including those looking for a cute boutique with one-offs to those who love the labels or looking for a bargain. The latest high street and designer labels can be found at Exchange Square, Deansgate, King Street and St Ann's Square. Here, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols can be found along with other designer stores including Mulbery, Armani, Hermes and Vivienne Westwood. Also there are high street classics including Top Shop and Karen Millen. The city regularly hosts fashion, organic and food fairs which provide choice.

The Manchester Arndale is located in the heart of Manchester city centre and is the UK's largest inner-city shopping centre. With over 240 shops and major department stores you can be sure to find the ideal outfit or gift. Once you have worked up an appetite with all that shopping there are lots of restaurants and fast food outlets to accommodate your hunger.

In addition to the shops and Manchester also hosts a 19-screen Odeon cinema complex which also has a range of bars, restaurants and clubs as well as the I-MAX cinema which is the only one in the North West.

Getting to Manchester city centre couldn't be easier with regular trains, buses and the Metrolink running across the City. In addition to this the Manchester Arndale has a 1,450 space multi storey car park for simple city centre access.
